Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. We do not distribute that message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure how visitors move through the site, including which pages draw traffic and where a visit ends. Analytics providers combine that activity into reports. You can block cookies through browser settings, though doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies where Hudson County records may be requested from local police, Hudson County Corrections, New Jersey courts, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern information entered there, along with their retention and sharing choices. Review the applicable provider policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hudson County agencies, municipal departments, New Jersey courts, state systems, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be handled by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used for the data we receive. No internet service can guarantee complete protection, so we cannot promise that an unauthorized access event will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor's data is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
New Jersey consumer protections, including the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq., may provide rights in addition to those listed here. Government-record access is separately governed by the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., while NJSP criminal-history dissemination is limited by N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.6 and N.J.A.C. 13:59. Those public-record laws do not turn visitor analytics into a government record. Subject to applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
